Every day over 800 children die from preventable diseases caused by dirty water and poor sanitation. That’s about one child every two minutes. In Vietnam, 80% of diseases are caused by polluted water: diarrhea, cholera, typhoid, and dysentery.
Every year, diarrhea causes children in developing countries to lose 272 million days of school due to absenteeism and negatively affected their learning potential.
Due to their specific needs, girls are reluctant to go to school and their parents are disinclined to them if they are no safe and private toilet for them to use.
